Tournament Features Top Names In Golf Including Four Ryder Cup Team Members
WOONSOCKET, Rhode Island (September 9, 2010) – During a week when the PGA TOUR breaks from competition before THE TOUR Championship, Golf Channel will televise a three-hour, tournament special featuring the top highlights from the 2010 CVS Caremark Charity Classic on Tuesday, Sept. 14, at 8 p.m. ET.
A popular PGA Challenge event and charity tournament where professionals from the PGA TOUR, LPGA Tour and Champions Tour come together to compete in two-person teams, the CVS Caremark Charity Classic has been the premier golfing event in Southern New England since 1999 and has raised more than $13 million for non-profit organizations committed to helping children and families.
Some of the prestigious names headlining this year’s field of players include tournament co-hosts Brad Faxon and Billy Andrade, as well as Ricky Barnes, Juli Inkster, Morgan Pressel, Davis Love III, Nick Price and 2010 U.S. Ryder Cup team members Rickie Fowler, Hunter Mahan, Bubba Watson and Matt Kuchar. Previous winning teams include some of the biggest stars in the game, such as Nick Price and David Toms and Camilo Villegas and Bubba Watson to name a few.
This year’s telecast of the two-day event will be condensed into three, highlight-packed hours in prime time. Steve Sands will call the action from Rhode Island Country Club, and is joined by Phil Blackmar and Billy Kratzert. Following the Tuesday, September 14th premiere, the special will air again three times including Wednesday, September 15, at 12 a.m. ET; Thursday, September 16, 6 a.m. ET; and Saturday, September 18, at 11 a.m. ET.
