Giving Back
Since 1999, the CVS Caremark Charity Classic has supported hundreds of nonprofit organizations throughout Rhode Island and Southeastern New England. Each year, approximately 20 ‘working charities’ recruit and train volunteers for specific tasks at the Classic event, such as admissions, hospitality, standard bearers, parking etc. These organizations play a vital role in recruiting and retaining more than 1,000 volunteers needed each year to ensure a successful tournament experience for players and patrons alike.
The classic supports these 20 groups, in addition to 80+ additional nonprofits focused on health, education and support for children and families at risk and in transition. Each year the CVS Charity Classic assesses critical needs within the community and responds with targeted grants to support those most in need.
Past giving has provided organizations such as the RI Community Food Bank, the Salvation Army’s Good Neighbor Energy Fund, Crossroads RI, RI Free Clinic and dozens of organizations with financial support which allows them to extend their mission and services to so many.
If you have a program that is providing critical support to those in need, you may send a one-page letter to the Tournament Director, CVS Caremark Charity Classic 1 CVS Drive, Woonsocket RI 02895. These requests will be considered each year. If selected, all potential beneficiary are required to fill out a Grant Application and will be required to submit their determination letter from the IRS, stating their 501c3 status, as well as submitting their last filed 990.
Since the tournament’s inception in 1999, we are pleased that $14M in grants has been awarded to hundreds of worthy charitable organizations across RI and New England. With the support of sponsors, individual donors, patrons, fans and golfers alike, we look to continue our tradition of giving for years to come.
